Turan practises in Clinical Negligence, Personal Injury, the Court of Protection, Inquests and Inquiries, Public Law, and Human Rights and has a particular interest in medical cases raising human rights issues. She is ranked as an ‘Up and Coming’ barrister in Chambers & Partners and a ‘Rising Star’ in the Legal 500.

Turan’s varied clinical negligence and personal injury caseload includes cases concerning brain injuries, cauda equina syndrome, delayed diagnosis of cancer, and claims arising from the infected blood scandal, of a value of up to £1 million. In the Court of Protection, she often appears against opponents 20 years her senior, including in cases concerning serious medical treatment. She is regularly instructed in multi-week inquests involving the NHS, the police, and prison services (particularly where Article 2 ECHR is engaged) and advises on civil claims arising from inquests. Turan is also instructed in a variety of public law and human rights cases spanning judicial review, healthcare, community care, actions against the police, breaches of the Human Rights Act 1998, and CICA matters. She has appeared as junior counsel in the Court of Appeal and sole and junior counsel in the High Court.

Sarah is a Partner in the serious injury team at Irwin Mitchell. Sarah specialises in complex cases involving life changing injuries and has a particular expertise in neurotrauma; bringing claims for both adults and children who have suffered a brain injury.

She is accredited as a brain injury specialist by the APIL injury Accreditation Scheme and has close links with Headway having been appointed as a Trustee of Headway East London in 2013.

Sarah is also a committee member for the Acquired Brain Injury Forum for London (ABIL) and is keen to raise awareness of acquired brain injury across London and the UK.

Sarah is passionate about rehabilitation and has extensive experience of securing early interim payments so that she can put rehabilitation in place for her clients to ensure that their rehabilitation can start as soon as possible.

David Barker MBE is the Chief Executive of Willow Burn Hospice in Lanchester, County Durham.  David has held senior leadership roles in a number of north east charities including Percy Hedley Foundation, Springboard and Disability North. He is a former Vice Chair of Voluntary Organisations Network North East.

David has a degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from The Open University.  In 2001 David was awarded an MBE for services to disability rights. He is a season ticket holder at Hartlepool United.
