About the event

Our upcoming event has been designed for charities, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and campaign groups who may be interested in bringing or intervening in legal cases to support their strategic objectives.


You’ll learn:

  •  Information about the practical steps in a judicial review case, including funding and costs

  • Details of the common legal grounds of challenge in judicial review cases

  • Case studies of previous judicial reviews and strategic litigation

  • A guide to interventions in legal cases by charities, NGOs and campaign groups

  • How campaigning and advocacy can work together with public law.


You’ll hear from experts in the field including Angela Jackman KC (Hon) and Oliver Carter of Irwin Mitchell, Steve Broach of 39 Essex Chambers, and Alice Stevens, Luke Robins-Grace and Emma Vincent Miller of Public Law Project.

Oliver Carter

Title

Alice is a solicitor in the Casework team and joined PLP in 2021. She qualified into Civil Liberties and Human Rights, specialising in inquests and also brought judicial reviews on behalf of bereaved families. Prior to qualifying, Alice was part of a legal team representing 22 families in the recent inquest into the Hillsborough disaster and then worked in a Civil Liberties department, focusing on inquests and actions against public authorities. She is a member of Young Legal Aid Lawyers and is passionate about using public law to improve access to legal advice and justice. Alice was also named Liverpool Law Society’s Junior Lawyer of the year in 2017.

 

Alice Stevens

Public Law Project

Luke Robins-Grace

Public Law Project

Luke Robins-Grace is PLP’s Communications Director. He has been in communications and public affairs for over ten years, including at the Bar Council and as a trainer at the International School of Communication. Luke has worked on a range of campaigns and communications strategies on justice issues. In a former life, Luke was a secondary school teacher.

Emma Vincent Miller

Public Law Project

Emma Vincent Miller is a solicitor and joined PLP in 2020. She has a law degree from the University of Bristol. Emma volunteered and worked at the Bristol Law Centre before training as a solicitor at the Government Legal Department. She joined PLP from the Cabinet Office Legal Team where she advised on public and constitutional law. Emma has volunteered at a legal advice clinic and with the Law Society International Action Team.
