Jane is a specialist nurse who has focused on the short and long-term care of individuals with Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI) and Cauda Equina syndrome (CES) for over 30 years.  In more recent times, she has extended her knowledge to include other neurological conditions including Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Spina Bifida, MS and stroke.  She has supported thousands of individuals, their families and their community teams through her expertise, education and advice. 

Most of her NHS career, until November 2022, was spent working in the National Spinal Injuries Centre, Stoke Mandeville Hospital. Her last role before leaving to focus on JPEL Training Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) in neurogenic bowel management in the bladder and bowel team. As a team they increased study days, patient education, creation of Trust guidelines/competencies, and maximised opportunities to speak nationally and internationally.   

Jane created JPEL Training in 2016 after seeing a need for the wider community to have access to bespoke training and advice for the long-term complications of neurological conditions.  Utilising her colleagues as needed, they provide bespoke training, and individualised assessments with recommendations and advice.  Jane also produces medico-legal reports focusing on neurogenic bladder and bowel management.

To maintain currency and to spread the SCI word as far as possible she is on the committee running MASCIP and an active member of the RCN, ACA and ISCOS.   She has worked with WHO in Ukraine as a consultant rehabilitation nurse working with an international MDT to support the development of their first national spinal cord injuries centre. This is a continuation of her interest in supporting individuals with SCI outside the UK which started in Tanzania where she was the nursing lead of a MDT group that has been instrumental in the development of a new spinal injuries unit in KCMC, Kilimanjaro .She has also provided training for Humanity-Inclusion (HI) for their UK EMT’s spinal cord specialist cell for teams being deployed to assist in humanitarian crisis that can include those with SCI. 

Lindsay is a Partner in the Medical Negligence team covering Birmingham, Staffordshire and the West Midlands. She's worked at Irwin Mitchell since 2001 and has over 20 years’ experience in medical negligence claims.  

 Lindsay has particular expertise in spinal injury cases. She has successfully concluded a number of spinal injury cases caused by negligent surgery and delay in diagnosis of cauda equina syndrome and has recovered damages in excess of £10m for patients who have suffered an otherwise avoidable spinal injury, with annual payments for care for life.

 Lindsay also specialises in birth injury and cerebral palsy claims, supporting families when a child is injured during delivery or due to negligent ante-natal care. She has acted for Claimants in over 40 such cases and has recovered damages in excess of £20m for patients who have suffered an otherwise avoidable injury at birth, with annual payments for care for life.

Lindsay has experience in fatal claims and helps families whose loved ones have tragically died as a result of negligent medical care. This is due to delay in diagnosis during surgery or shortly after giving birth. She has particular expertise in inquest representation and understands the sensitivity of such claims and the importance of ensuring the families are properly represented with compassion and sensitivity at a difficult time in their lives.

Lindsay enjoys the challenge of dealing with the complexities of the law in order to get answers, and most importantly apologies, for families. She's dedicated to fighting fearlessly for patients to get answers in the most difficult of circumstances. She also makes sure they get the compensation they are entitled to in order to be able to continue with their lives.

Lindsay has recovered total damages in excess of £200m for Claimants to date. 

Lindsay is also a Fellow of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL). A Fellow is described by APIL as: "[An] experienced practitioner who has a high level of technical expertise in personal injury law and who is recognised by his or her peers as being in a position of professional and intellectual leadership in the field of personal injury law."

Gurpreet is a senior associate solicitor specialising in medical negligence based in the Cambridge office.

Since qualifying as a solicitor in 2015 she has acted exclusively for clients in medical negligence cases, helping people bring claims against NHS Trusts, GPs and private practitioners. She manages her own caseload, covering a wide range of issues, including:

• Spinal injuries, including Cauda Equina Syndrome
• Adult brain injuries, including failures in treatment and prevention in strokes and subarachnoid haemorrhage
• Wrongful birth claims
• Delay in diagnosis of cancer
• Ophthalmic injuries
• Birth injuries
• Avoidable deaths including stillbirth and neonatal deaths

Of these, Gurpreet has a particular interest in those claims relating to Cauda Equina Syndrome, wrongful birth, the delayed diagnosis of subarachnoid haemorrhage, as well as claims arising from the diagnosis and prevention failures in relation to strokes. She also assists a number of clients who have lost loved ones as a result of errors which could have been avoided in their medical treatment.

In addition to her own caseload, Gurpreet also assists Guy Forster, the Head of the Medical Negligence team in Cambridge, with complex cases often involving children who have sadly suffered injuries at birth.
